क्यों मनाये जाते है नवरात्रे

नौ स्‍वरूपों वाली मां दुर्गा को जगदम्बा, शेरांवाली और अम्बे मां के नाम से भी पुकारा जाता है. ऐसा माना जाता है कि देवी दुर्गा ने महिषासुर का वध किया था. दरअसल, महिषासुर ने कठोर तपस्‍या करके देवताओं से अजय होने का वरदान ले लिया था. जिसके बाद महिषासुर ने अपनी शक्तियों का गलत उपयोग किया और नरक को स्‍वर्ग के द्वार तक ले गया, इससे सभी देवता परेशान हो गए. यहां तक कि महिषासुर ने सभी देवताओं के अधिकार उनसे छीन लिए.इससे क्रोधित होकर देवताओं ने दुर्गा मां की रचना की और देवी मां का सभी देवताओं ने अपने अस्‍त्र-शस्‍त्र दिए. शक्तिशाली दुर्गा मां का महिषासुर से नौ दिन तक संग्राम छिड़ा और आखिरकार महिषासुर का वध हुआ. इसलिए नवरात्रों में नौ देवियों की पूजा होती है और नौंवे दिन नौ कन्‍याओं की पूजा कर उनका आदर-सत्‍कार कर उन्‍हें जिमाया जाता है.

भारत में धूमधाम से मनाएं जाने वाले नवरात्रि‍ साल में दो बार आते हैं. शारदीय नवरात्र और चैत्र नवरात्र. चैत्र मास शुक्ल पक्ष की एक से नौ तारीख तक जो नवरात्रि‍ व्रत रखें जाते हैं वे चैत्र नवरात्र कहलाते है और आश्विन मास शुक्ल पक्ष की पहली तारीख से जो नवरात्र व्रत किए जाते हैं वे शारदीय नवरात्र कहलाते हैं. शारदीय नवरात्रों के दसवें दिन विजयदशमी मनाई जाती है.चैत्र नवरात्रि बिल्‍कुल शारदीय नवरात्रों की ही तरह धूमधाम से देशभर में मनाएं जाते हैं. कई बार तिथियों के हेर-फेर से पूजा आठ दिन भी होती है. यानी एक ही दिन में दो नवरात्रों की पूजा होती है.हिन्दू धर्म में नवरात्रों को पूरे धूमधाम से पूजा-अर्चना के साथ उपवास करके मनाया जाता है. चैत्र नवरात्रि इसलिए भी खास है क्‍योंकि हिन्दु कैलेण्डर का ये पहला दिवस होता है. लोग साल के पहले दिन से नौंवे दिन तक पूरी श्रद्धा से चैत्र नवरात्रि का पूजन करते हैं.

कम ही लोग ये बात जानते होंगे कि चैत्र नवरात्रों को वसंत नवरात्रि के नाम से भी जाना जाता है. ऐसा माना जाता है कि शारदीय नवरात्रों की पूजा जहां भगवान राम ने आरंभ की थी वहीं चैत्र नवरात्रि‍ का अंतिम दिन भगवान राम के जन्‍मदिवस के रूप में भी मनाया जाता है.शारदीय नवरात्रों में जिस तरह पूरे अनुष्‍ठान के साथ मां दुर्गा के नौ स्‍वरूपों की पूजा होती है ठीक वैसे ही चैत्र नवरात्रों में भी होता है. उत्‍तर भारत में चैत्र नवरात्रि‍ धूमधाम से मनाया जाता है. जबकि महाराष्‍ट्र में गुड़ी पड़वा से चैत्र नवरात्रि‍ की शुरूआत होती है. आन्ध्र प्रदेश और कर्नाटक में उगादी से चैत्र नवरात्रि‍ की शुरूआत होती है.

Why are Navratras celebrated

Mother Durga with nine forms is also called Jagdamba, Sheranwali and Ambe Maa. It is believed that Goddess Durga killed Mahishasura. Actually, Mahishasura had taken the boon of being invincible from the Gods by performing austerity.After which Mahishasura misused his powers and took hell to the gate of heaven, this upset all the gods. Even Mahishasura took away the rights of all the gods from him.Enraged by this, the Gods created Durga Maa and all the deities of the Mother Goddess gave their weapons. The powerful Durga Maa fought for nine days from Mahishasura and finally Mahishasura was killed. Therefore, nine goddesses are worshiped in Navratri and on the ninth day, nine girls are worshiped and honored by distributing with foods and gifts to them.

Navratri celebrated with great pomp in India comes twice a year. Sharadiya Navratri and Chaitra Navratri. The Navratri fast which is observed from 1st to 9th of Chaitra month Shukla Paksha is called Chaitra Navratri.And the Navratras which are observed from the first date of Ashwin month Shukla Paksha are called Shardiya Navratras. Vijayadashami is celebrated on the tenth day of the Sharadiya Navratras. Chaitra Navratri is celebrated with great pomp, just like the Sharadiya Navratras. At times, worship is also done for eight days due to manipulating of the dates. That is, two Navratras are worshiped on the same day. In Hinduism, Navaratri is celebrated with full pomp and fast with puja. Chaitra Navratri is also special because it is the first day of the Hindu calendar. People worship Chaitra Navratri from the first day of the year to the ninth day with full devotion.

Few people would know that Chaitra Navratri is also known as Vasant Navratri. It is believed that where Lord Rama started the worship of Sharadiya Navratri, the last day of Chaitra Navratri is also celebrated as Lord Rama's birthday.Just as the nine forms of Maa Durga are worshiped with full ritual in the Sharadiya Navratras, in the same way Chaitra Navratras also take place. Chaitra Navratri is celebrated with pomp in North India. While Chaitra Navratri begins from Gudi Padwa in Maharashtra. Chaitra Navratri begins with Ugadi in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
