धरती पर कई जगह भौगोलिक गतिविधियों के कारण गर्म पानी के कुंड और झरने पाए जाते है।  इनमे से अधिकतर कुंडो में विशेष औषधीय गुण होते है क्योकि इनमे कई तरह के खनिज तत्व उपस्थित होते है।  इसलिए इन गर्म  पानी के कुंडो में स्नान करने से कई तरह के रोग व बीमारियां ठीक हो जाती है खासकर त्वचा से  होने वाले रोग।  भारत में भी कई जगह ऐसे कुंड पाए जाते है जिनमे से कई धार्मिक तीर्थ स्थल  पर है तो इनसे कई गुना महत्व भी बढ़ जाता है।  धार्मिक जगह औरऔषधीय गुणो के कारण यहाँ साल भर भक्तो की भीड़ लगी रहती है।  इन कुंडों का पानी हर मौसम में अपने  आप  किस तरह गर्म रहता है, ये बात आज भी रहस्य बनी हुई है। आइये जानते है ऐसे भारत के सात कुंडो के बारे में जिनकी लोकप्रियता सारे भारत में फैली है :

मणिकरण, हिमाचल प्रदेश

मणिकरण हिमाचल प्रदेश के कुल्लू जिले में भुंतर के उत्तर-पूर्व में पार्वती नदी पर पार्वती घाटी में स्थित है।मणिकरण मंदिर हिमाचल प्रदेश में कुल्लू से 45 कि.मीटर की दूरी पर मौजूद है। इस मंदिर में मौजूद कुंड का पानी भी हमेशा गर्म रहता है। ये जगह बहुत ही ज़्यादा खूबसूरत भी है। धरती पर चमत्कारिक जल स्रोतों के मामले में सबसे पहले नाम आता है हिमाचल प्रदेश में स्थित प्रसिद्ध तीर्थस्थल मणिकरण का। यह स्थान विशेष रूप से गर्म पानी के झरनो  के लिए प्रसिद्ध है। मणिकरण में स्थित गर्म पानी के कुंड में सल्फर, यूरेनियम और अन्य कई तरह के तत्व पाए जाते हैं। मणिकरण में जगह-जगह पर कई गर्म पानी के जल स्रोत हैं। धार्मिक दृष्टि से भी इस स्थान का बहुत महत्व है। यह स्थान हिंदू व सिखों के लिए आस्था का केंद्र है। यहां एक प्रसिद्ध मंदिर है और सिखों के प्रसिद्ध गुरुद्वारों में से एक यहां स्थित है। यहां के गर्म पानी के कुंड के जल में गुरुद्वारे के लिए चावल आदि पकाए जाते है।

यमुनोत्री (उत्तराखंड)

यमुनोत्री उत्तराखंड राज्य में यमुना नदी का उद्गम स्थल माना जाता है। यमुनोत्री के पास ही कई कुंड बने हुए हैं, जिनमें से सूर्यकुंड गर्म पानी का प्रसिद्ध कुंड हैं। इस कुंड का पानी इतना गर्म रहता है कि कई बार उसमें हाथ में डालना संभव नहीं होता। आपको ये जानकर आश्चर्य होगा की तीर्थ यात्री इस कुंड के पानी में अपना भोजन पका लेते हैं। यमुनाजी का मन्दिर यहां की आराधना का मुख्य केन्द्र है।

बकरेश्वर जल कुंड (पश्चिम बंगाल)

पश्चिम बंगाल के केमें शहर में मौजूद बकरेश्वर के कुंड का पानी भी हमेशा गर्म रहने के साथ-साथ बहुत पवित्र भी माना जाता है यह पश्चिम बंगाल का एक प्रसिद्ध तीर्थ स्थल है। इसकी पश्चिम बंगाल के भ्रमण स्थलों में एक अलग पहचान है, क्योंकि यहां गर्म पानी के कुंड है। यहां देश के कोने-कोने से लोग पवित्र कुंडों में स्नान के लिए आते हैं। इन कुंडों में स्नान से कई रोग दूर हो जाते हैं।  

तुलसी श्याम कुंड, गुजरात

तुलसी श्यामकुण्ड, जूनागढ़ से 65 किलोमीटर की दूरी पर है। यहां पर गर्म पानी के तीन कुण्ड हैं। इनकी खासियत यह है कि तीनों में अलग-अलग तापमान का पानी रहता है। इन कुंडों में स्नान कर व्यक्ति को आध्यात्मिक के साथ-साथ स्वास्थ्यवर्द्धक लाभ भी होते हैं। इस कुंड के पास ही 700 साल पुराना रुक्मणि देवी मंदिर भी है।

60 गर्म पानी के कुंड, झारखंड

आपको जानकर हैरानी होगी कि भारत के झारखंड राज्य में गर्म पानी के एक नहीं बल्कि 60 कुंड हैं। गर्म पानी के जल स्रोतों के मामले में झारखंड राज्य सबसे आगे है। इस स्थान पर पूरे 60 हॉट स्प्रिंग्स हैं। इनमें से ततलोई, थरई, पानी, नुंबिल, तपत पानी, सुसुम पानी, राणेश्वर, चर्क खुर्द, सिदपुर और सूरजकुंड प्रमुख हैं।

पनामिक लद्दाख

लद्दाख में सियाचिन ग्लेशियर से 9 किमी की दूरी पर स्थित है नुब्रा वैली। नुब्रा वैली का मतलब है फूलों की घाटी। लद्दाख का यह स्थान गर्म पानी के कुंड के लिए भी प्रसिद्ध है। इस स्थान का पानी इतना ज्यादा गर्म होता है कि आपको इससे पानी के बुलबुले उठते साफ दिखाई देते हैं। पानी के बहुत ज्यादा गर्म होने की वजह से आप इसे छू भी नहीं सकते हैं।

यूमेसमडोंग, सिक्किम

उत्तर-पूर्वी राज्य सिक्किम के यूमेसमडोंग के नाम से प्रसिद्ध इस स्थान पर 15500 फीट की ऊंचाई पर स्थित है सल्फर युक्त 14 जल स्रोत जिनका तापमान लगभग 50 डिग्री रहता है। इनमे सबसे प्रसिद्ध बोरोंग और रालोंग है, जहां साल भर पर्यटकों की भीड़ लगा रहते है।

राजगीर के जल कुंड (बिहार)

पटना के समीप राजगीर को भारत के सबसे पवित्र स्थलों में से एक माना जाता है। यह कभी मगध साम्राज्य की राजधानी हुआ करती थी। राजगीर न सिर्फ एक प्रसिद्ध धार्मिक तीर्थस्थल है। देव नगरी राजगीर सभी धर्मो की संगमस्थली है। कथाओं के अनुसार, भगवान ब्रह्मा के मानस पुत्र राजा बसु ने राजगीर के ब्रह्मकुंड परिसर में एक यज्ञ का आयोजन कराया था। इसी दौरान आए सभी देवी-देवताओं को एक ही कुंड में स्नान करने में परेशानी होने लगी। तभी ब्रह्मा ने यहां 22 कुंड और 52 जलधाराओं का निर्माण कराया था। वैभारगिरी पर्वत की सीढिय़ों पर मंदिरों के बीच गर्म जल के कई झरने हैं, जहां सप्तकर्णी गुफाओं से जल आता है। इस पर्वत में कई तरह के केमिकल्स जैसे सोडियम, गंधक, सल्फर हैं। इसकी वजह से जल गर्म और रोग को मिटाने वाला होता है। ब्रह्मकुंड यहां का सबसे खास कुंड हैं। इसका तापमान 45 डिग्री सेल्सियस होता है। इसे पाताल गंगा भी कहा जाता है।
